Deposit Methods
Depositing Methods in New Jersey
Playing on the regulated online casinos available in New Jersey has a number of advantages. One of them is that because the sites are entirely legal from every angle, financial institutions are much more likely to process payments between players and operators, something that isn’t as easy to secure when dealing with an unlicensed Internet gaming site.
This means that it is easy to get money into your online gambling accounts in the state. No matter what is available to you, it should be simple to find a method that meets your needs. It’s even possible to do all of your depositing in the real world using cash, something rarely seen at Internet sites.
Credit Cards
Perhaps the most obvious and most popular way to fund an account is the use of a credit (or debit) card. Right now, there are really only two types of cards that can be used in the state market: Visa and MasterCard. Both are widely accepted, but both also have less-than-ideal rates of acceptance.
This isn’t because of any problems caused by the sites themselves. To understand the issue, it’s important to first realize that credit cards aren’t handed out directly by Visa or MasterCard; instead, issuing banks issue the cards to their customers, and each bank has its own policies. That includes how to handle online gambling, something that many banks are still uncomfortable with even in a fully legal market.
This shouldn’t dissuade anyone from trying to use a credit card to deposit, however. Acceptance rates have risen as banks have come to better understand New Jersey’s laws and differentiate between legal and unregulated gambling. MasterCard tends to be accepted more frequently, but both brands are worth a try if you want to use them.
E-Wallets
Traditionally, one of the best ways to manage your money at Internet gaming sites has been through the use of an e-wallet: a site where you can store money and then spend it wherever you like online. Today, there are two major e-wallets in the gambling industry, and they are both available here: Skrill and Neteller.
If you want to use one of these sites, you’ll need to sign up for an account there, then link a funding source to your new account: usually a credit card or a bank account. After doing that, you can use your wallet to put money into sites you want to play on, and can also cash your winnings out into the same account. This makes it easy to manage all of your real money play from a single e-wallet.
The most famous e-wallet in the world is also available at many New Jersey casino sites. PayPal doesn’t typically enter the gaming market, but they are willing to do so in areas where online gambling is fully regulated, and as such, several of the Internet casinos here can accept deposits through PayPal.
Visiting the Cashier
Each of the regulated gaming sites in New Jersey is operated by an Atlantic City resort (or one of their partners). As such, they have a tight relationship with the brick-and-mortar operations, and you can take advantage of that if you’d prefer to handle your banking offline. You can do so by heading down to the land-based casino and making a deposit directly through the cashier cage.
This method comes with a number of obvious advantages. There’s no need to share your financial details online, and it is extremely secure: you can just hand over some cash and be done with the transaction. The only downside is that this can be a bit inconvenient, especially if you aren’t anywhere near Atlantic City.
Bank Transfers
One of the fastest and most reliable ways to put money into your casino account is by using a form of bank transfer to wire the money from your checking or savings account. There are a few different ways you can do this. The more common way is to simply make a standard bank transfer (known as an ACH transfer, or an e-check), which is usually a fast an easy way to make a deposit.
You may also be able to make an “online banking transfer.” Some sites offer ways to use your Internet banking system to get money into an online casino account. Typically, you’ll need to have the ability to pay bills through your bank’s website in order to utilize this function.
Prepaid Options
Another way to avoid sharing your personal financial details during the deposit process is by using some sort of a prepaid card or voucher. Some of the casinos offer their own prepaid products that can be purchased on the Internet, then used at their sites. There’s also a program known as “Pay Near Me” that works through the 7-Eleven convenience store chain.
Time to Cash Out?
Hopefully, your time at a New Jersey casino site will result in a big win, and you’ll want to withdraw your winnings at some point. When it comes time to do so, you’ll be able to use a variety of methods for cashing out, though the exact options will vary by casino.
Some of these methods are the same ones described above. The same e-wallets, bank transfers, and many of the prepaid options can be used for withdrawals as well, and you can usually cash out at the appropriate resort in Atlantic City as well. Alternately, you can have your winnings sent to you by check, though this will usually take a week or two to arrive at your address.
